Fascinating Heritage of our Sangha

Banhatti comes under Jamkhandi taluka, which was once ruled by Marathas-Patwardhan family. So, in Jamkhandi State Marathi Language came in to use for administrative and educational purpose. RamachanadranAppasaheb, who successes to the throne, established Department of Education in 1856 for imparting education as per Macaulay System. So Anglo Vernacular School (A V) was established in Jamkhandi. Similarly, in 1928 during the rule of Mahraja Shankar Rao Patwardhans A V School was opened in Banhatti.

A primary school teacher, a great Philanthropist and pro-activist of kannada, felt the need of establishing Kannada medium primary school at Banhatti. To materialize his vision he promoted “Janata Shikshan Sangha” ( J S S) which took legal shape in 1935. Since then the sangha is engaged in providing quality education to the people of Banhatti, Rabakavi and squares of villages around. The motto of the founder of The Janata Shikshan Sangha, Late Shree Tammannappa Chikkodi, was the upliftment of weaker section of the society in general and weaver’s community in particular.

An emblem of our education institution holds a mirror to focus all its vision, mission and goals. The components of this emblem expect us to vizualise the metaphorical expression of the very objectives. The founder have chosen these components to glorify their visions.
